A little bit of both. Everyone wanted to forget the war. They wanted to just throw themselves into peace and forget and dismantle everything that came before, like that would make the peace last.

[He hums, quiet as the words he's offering, and moves his hand up Natsuno's neck, knuckles brushing his cheek before he tucks his fingers into the purple hair. There's slow, idle exploration of the new sensations and textures as he continues.]

But we didn't forget. The Protectorate... was supposed to be one of the oldest and strongest clans. One of our duties was to keep the Celestial Beasts. But after the war, the Celestials decided that having the Beasts around was too dangerous. They were all going to be changed into household pets, and all of their other functions would be eliminated.

[It's probably getting a little clearer where this whole thing is going.]

There wasn't any room for the real Celestial Beasts, or too many of the Sacred Weapons, or anybody else who wasn't interested in a peace like that.
